Visiting Wanagi Wolf Rescue
Wanagi Wolf Rescue is located at the home of proprietor Stephanie Kaylan in a mountainous area east of Albuquerque, NM. Since Ms. Kaylan is a music teacher by profession, it is important to recognize that she is not always available to conduct tours or welcome visitors. In addition, in order to help raise awareness of the plight of captive wolves, Ms. Kaylan and her ambassador wolves and wolf-dogs participate in a variety of public events/venues throughout the year. Provided there are no public events or personal matters that need her attention, visitors are typically welcome on Wednesdays and Sundays after 2:00pm, with advance notification. (Tours are 1 1/2 to 2 hours and you get to go into the pens with many pack members!) The further in advance plans to visit the rescue can be made, the better: typically, at least a 3-week advance notice is advisable. The best way to schedule a visit is to contact Ms. Kaylan directly by phone at 505.286.2088.
On the day of your visit, be sure to wear casual clothing and sturdy footwear, as you may get “loved on” by some of the pack members. Feel free to bring cameras to photograph the magnificent creatures that reside at the refuge. Visitors are treated to a guided tour of the refuge and an introduction to all the canine residents.
A minimum donation of $30 per visitor is strongly encouraged and appreciated, as Wanagi Wolf Rescue operates as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All donations go directly to the care and maintenance of the canine residents.
In addition to monetary donations, the refuge also accepts stuffed toys (the animals love them!), food donations (including canine foods & treats made in the USA and freezer-burned meats), and gift cards to Clark’s, Petco, and Long Leash on Life.
Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Come visit Wanagi Wolf Rescue and have a howling good time! We look forward to seeing you soon.
