Long Leash on Life “To the Rescue!”

For the fourth year in a row, Long Leash on Life, Albuquerque’s iconic and natural pet food store, held it’s annual yard sale and pet adoption, “To the Rescue,” on Sunday, May 18th.  For months in advance, the store invited contributions of all kinds of items from the public and then offered them for sale to enthusiastic buyers.  In addition to finding some much-needed and appreciated bargains, attendees were also offered opportunities to meet and greet (and hopefully adopt) pets from a number of local pet adoption agencies.  Wanagi Wolf Rescue ambassadors Hokshila and Bindi were also present to welcome those who stopped by the Wanagi WR booth, located on the grass in front of the store.

In order to participate in the yard sale/adoption day, volunteers from the various agencies were required to donate their time and energy by helping to organize and price the items that were offered for sale.  In exchange for their efforts, each agency receives a percentage of the sale profits, based on the number of volunteers who participated.  Participating rescues included: Wanagi Wolf Fund & Rescue, Greyhound Companions NM, Doberman Rescue of NM, Lap Dog Rescue of NM, EnchantMutts, F.A.T. Katz, New Mexico Animal & Friends, Justice Great Dane Rescue, CARMA, Animal Humane of NM, Albuquerque Kennel Kompadres/Animal Welfare Dept., and NNDog.

Long Leash owners Norm Shrout and Ken Wormser, as well as their group of helpful employees, made everyone feel welcome and comfortable . . . despite the very warm day.
