Prema Takes a Walk

Prema Takes a Walk

This event was wolf-dog Prema’s first experience with meeting public admirers (other than when people visit at the refuge). She did her best to try to stay cool and collected, but public outings are probably not Prema’s favorite thing. Here, she takes a much-needed potty break and an opportunity to escape the heat and the crowds. (Photo courtesy of Sue Isley)

Preparing for Photographs

Wanagi WR volunteer photographer Sue Isley prepares to photograph visitors with Hokshila for a $10.00 donation. Having your picture taken with a real live timber wolf is a treat for anyone! These photos make great Christmas cards. As Wanagi WR CEO Stephanie Kaylan likes to say: “Santa has Rudolf, but we have Hokshila!” Thanks to all who supported Wanagi Wolf Fund & Rescue in this manner! (Photo courtesy of Andrea Westwood)

Stuffed Animals, Anyone?

Stuffed Animals, Anyone?

The Wanagi WR wolves and wolf-dogs always enjoy receiving new stuffed animals to play with. A number of people who stopped by PFGW literally brought bags of “gently used” stuffed animals. The wolves and wolf-dogs wish to thank all those who donated these wonderful toys! (Photo courtesy of Andrea Westwood)

A Special Guest and a Special Gift

A Special Guest and a Special Gift

Since this event took place on Father’s Day this year, it was only appropriate that Stephanie’s father, Cappy, was present.  Happy Father’s Day, Cappy!  We can only imagine how proud you must be of your daughter, Stephanie, and all the work she does for so many animals.  And Stephanie received a special surprise when Wanagi volunteer Rick May presented her with a t-shirt, a gift from his son (who owns a wolf-dog).

So Much Trust and Respect

So Much Trust and Respect

Bindi is so completely at ease with “Little Frankie,” and seems to be paying attention to what his new little friend is saying.  This young boy spent over an hour, on the floor, with both Bindi and Hokshila.  He epitomized the kind of trust and respect that Stephanie is so interested in promoting during her public appearances with members of the Wanagi pack.

Wolf Kisses!

Wolf Kisses!

What could be better than being kissed by a real, live timber wolf?  Hokshila was very generous with his kisses during this event, as he is at all Wanagi events.  As Stephanie describes him:  “He’s just a Big Mush-pot who  just loves everybody!”

Bindi Greets Audience Members

Bindi Greets Audience Members

Bindi didn’t spend quite all his time lying around waiting for belly-rubs during this event.  Like Hokshila, Bindi also spent time getting to know members of the audience.  Again, notice that audience members include adults and children alike, from a wide range of ages.

“Frankie, Jr.” Gives Hokshila a Hug

“Frankie, Jr.” Gives Hokshila a Hug

Here’s little “Frank Sinatra, Jr.” again — this time with Hokshila.  Although he is not much taller than Hokshila (and certainly not anywhere near as BIG), this Little Guy exuded trust and confidence around both members of the pack.
